Franco Balducci
Franco Balducci is a ceramic artist with more than thirty years’ experience who has specialised in high-temperature techniques (1300°C) using various types of stoneware, mainly from northern Europe. Researching materials, shapes and colours has always been of great importance in his work. In 1990, along with his wife Esther, he opened the workshop in San Gimignano where you can watch them at work and their products are on display: unique pieces, a range of household objects and sculptures by Franco and a range of small animals and bas-relief landscapes of Chianti by Esther. All their work is handcrafted. The pieces are then fired in the kilns Franco built himself in their home workshop. The glazes are the result of Franco’s ongoing research starting from the mineral raw materials.
